Membership of the Redbridge & Havering Ordinariate Exploratory Group

Members of the Redbridge and Havering Ordinariate Exploratory Group meet together around fortnightly to celebrate Mass and to explore what joining the Ordinariate will mean and involve. By coming to these meeting nobody is committing themselves to join the Ordinaraite. Some will, some may and some, probably, will not. Joining the Ordinaraite is very much a thing which each person must determine for themselves by seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit to discern God’s will for them. After Mass and refreshments we study the “Evangelium” course which gives each member the opportunity to join in a lively and interesting discussion. The meetings are facilitated by Father Mervyn at St. Augustine’s Church, Rush Green, where he is Honorary Assistant Curate by kind permission of Father Martin, the Vicar.

Our next meeting is on Monday 7th March at 7.30 p.m.

+David Silk

Report from the Southwest Ordinariate Group blog:
A small group of people gathered in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Buckfast Abbey today for the ordination to the diaconate of David Silk.  Bishop Christopher Budd administered the sacrament with warmth.  He paid tribute to David’s extensive ministry in the Anglican Communion.  A very nice touch was to see Bishop Budd using one of David’s Australian Crossiers, carved in the shape of a tropical bird.  Mrs Silk helped David to vest in dalmatic.

Our prayers are offered for Deacon David as he prepares for his priesting on Friday.

THE ORDINARIATE GROUPS ARE GROWING

As of this morning, the count by country is:
Canada:                  30
United States:      36
United Kingdom  18
TOTAL                     84
More groups seem to be on the way in the three countries we have on the board and Australia is yet to come.
I have taken these figures from the “The Anglo-Catholic” in an article by Brother Stephen Treat O.Cist.
About Br. Stephen Treat, O.Cist
Br. Stephen Treat, O.Cist. is a monk of the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Spring Bank. Like many others, his path led from an evangelical childhood in the South to Anglicanism and into the Roman Catholic Church. Our Lady of Spring Bank is a small Abbey of the Order of Cistercians, generally known as the Common Cistercians, located on 600 acres near La Crosse, Wisconsin

MEETING OF THE REDRIDGE & HAVERING ORDINARIATE EXPLORATORY GROUP

Last night the Redbridge and Havering Ordinariate Exploratory Group met for Mass and the continuation of the Evangelium Course at St. Augustine’s Church, Romford. We offered the Holy Sacrifice for +Edwin Barnes who is to be ordained Deacon in the RC Church on Friday becoming the fourth former Bishop to join the Ordinariate.
Due to illness our numbers were slightly down on our normal attendance and we send our good wishes and our prayers to those currently unwell for a speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing them soon.
After Mass and refreshments, we looked at the section of Evangelium concerning The Eucharist and an interesting and lively debate ensured that we had a most enjoyable and educative evening.
We meet again on Wednesday 23rd February at 7.30 p.m. and the venue is, as usual, St. Augustine’s. Rush Green, Romford.
